It’s in the eerie ambience that Moljebka Pvlse really shines here, and they should, now being one of the older ambient/noise projects still in operation. The many influences here are obvious, but the mix and composition is obviously well thought-out and focused enough to bring all these different influences together with a sleight of hand not often heard. The metallic light feedback texture is one of the most persistent throughout on this recording and I have to say the last one or two times it appears feels rather forced.
The strongest moments here are mostly contained within the first half with the drones merging and diverging, organic elements like the digeridoo, chanting, and bells collide with the electronic drones, digital feedback, and echoing washes of static to create an engaging atmosphere with a depth that really feels like there’s much more lurking underneath the surface. The passage with the repeated spoken sample “I found myself, outside this world†or something close to that, so effective and emotional, it’s been a while since I’ve been so affected by ambient music of this caliber.
